- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for added flavor)

- 1/4 cup hot pepper jelly (or more to taste)

**Instructions:**

1. **Preheat the Oven:**

Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a light coating of grease.

4. **Make the Thumbprint:**

Press your thumb or the back of a spoon into the center of each ball to create a small well.

5. **Bake:**

Bake the dough balls for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

6. **Add the Jelly:**

Let the baked bites cool for 5 minutes, then spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper jelly into each indentation.

7. **Serve and Enjoy:**
