Ingredients: 2 pounds (900g) beef brisket or chuck roast 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade) 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons smoked paprika 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Hamburger buns or bread rolls (for serving) Instructions: In a bowl, combine barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to make the barbecue sauce. Place the beef brisket or chuck roast in a large zip-top bag or a shallow dish.
Pour the barbecue sauce over the beef, making sure it is coated on all sides. If using a bag, seal it tightly. Marinate the beef in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor. Preheat your grill to medium heat or preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). If using a grill, remove the beef from the marinade and discard the excess sauce. Place the beef directly on the grill grates and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side to sear the meat. Then, move the beef to an indirect heat zone or reduce the heat to low. If using an oven, heat a large oven-safe skillet or roasting pan over medium-high heat and sear the beef on all sides. If using a grill, close the lid and continue cooking the beef for about 2-3 hours, or until it is tender and reaches an internal temperature of around 195°F (90°C) for brisket or 165°F (74°C) for chuck roast.
If using an oven, transfer the seared beef to the preheated oven and roast for about 2-3 hours, or until it is tender and reaches the desired temperature.
Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the grill or oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Then, use two forks to shred the beef into smaller pieces. Serve the shredded beef barbecue on hamburger buns or bread rolls. You can also add additional barbecue sauce on top if desired. Serve with coleslaw, pickles, or your favorite side dishes. Enjoy your delicious homemade beef barbecue!
